DISCIPLE SHORT TERM - INVITATION TO THE NEW TESTAMENT Finished in Spring 2007 - Check again in Spring 2008 This is short-term, in-depth, small group Bible Study has these underlying assumptions: 1. the Bible is the primary text of study 2. preparation on the part of participants is expected reading and studying daily assignments 3. the study leader acts as a facilitator rather than as a lecturer 4. a weekly group session features small group discussion 5. video presentations by scholars set the Scriptures in context 6. encouraging and enhancing Christian discipleship is the goal of study 7. each participant will purchase their own study book ($10.00) and attend weekly sessions (each session will be between 60-90 minutes)
SESSION TIMES: (Choose one or the other) Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. OR Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. (Note Time change for Tuesday sessions)
SESSION TITLES: I. Jesus Calls us into God’s Redemption Story—January 16th or 17th. II. Jesus Calls us to a Transformed Life—January 23rd or 24th. III. Jesus Calls us to Minister to a Hostile World—January 30th or 31st. IV. Jesus Calls us to Complex Communities of Faith—February 6th or 7th. V. Jesus Calls us to Serve one Another—February 13th or 14th. VI. Jesus Calls us to a New Relationship with Tradition—February 20th or 21st. VII. Jesus Calls us to Live in Light of His Coming Again—February 27th or 28th. VIII. Jesus Calls us to Experience the Gifts of His Dying and Rising—March 6th or 7th.
